bittersweet
summer of 2018
My first film diary!! I like to make these because sometimes, it’s hard to relate to or envision a story without seeing some visuals. Using pictures to tell stories adds a personal element that words can’t always achieve.
This summer was an adventure. I went on a huge road trip with my best friend, her dad, her Irish cousin, and her Spanish foreign exchange student. SADLY I didn’t have a camera at the time, but I got a disposable after i got home and started taking pictures from there on out. So, let’s get into it!

This was the night of my birthday party. Even though I quit dance (sorry ATB fam) I spent a ton of time hanging out with my dance friends and swimming at my neighbor’s pool. We’ll go through phases where we are constantly hanging out. I mean, constantly. We’ll go to dinner, then someone hosts a sleepover. The next morning, they go to dance and I go home. After dance, they come back over, and we swim, make dinner, watch a movie, and have a sleepover. Maybe we’ll just have a little bonfire, or I have everyone over and we go to the store and make breakfast together. Usually it’s over the summer. Summers seem to be the time where we really thrive as friends. Going on my second year of not dancing, I still consider them to be my best friends. We have the kind of friendship where we can spend months without seeing or talking to each other, but when we reunite, it’s like we haven’t spent any time apart. We pick up right where we leave off and there’s never any awkward moments. I always look forward to the times I get to hang out with them, even if it’s not very often.
The summer of 2018 was one that I won’t forget. I only shot one disposable, but I was still creating and keeping memories. Now it’s probably obvious why I titled this entry “bittersweet”. My best friend moved halfway across the country — 1,503 miles, to be exact… but who’s counting, am I right?? Nobody wants their best friend to move away, but we still enjoyed our summer and made amazing memories with all of our friends. There’s always good to outweigh the bad :)
